Glaetzer “Anaperenna” Shiraz–Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
A bold yet finely balanced expression of Barossa Valley power, Anaperenna represents Ben Glaetzer’s masterful blending of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon from some of the region’s oldest dry-farmed vines. Named after the Roman goddess of renewal, the 2021 vintage captures both the intensity and freshness of an exceptional Barossa year.
The nose is rich and layered, offering aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, and dark plum intertwined with notes of graphite, cedar, cocoa, and exotic spice. Subtle hints of eucalyptus, vanilla, and smoked meat add complexity. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and structured, with dense yet finely polished tannins and vibrant acidity. The Shiraz brings opulence and richness, while the Cabernet Sauvignon contributes definition, savory notes, and a firm backbone, leading to a long, powerful finish.
While immediately impressive with decanting, the 2021 Anaperenna has the depth and structure to evolve beautifully over the next two decades.
