This is one of the great vintages of the past decade in Montalcino, combining power, precision, and freshness in perfect equilibrium.

Sourced from the estate’s sustainably farmed vineyards in Sant’Angelo in Colle, this 100% Sangiovese Grosso was fermented in temperature-controlled tanks and aged 36 months in large French oak casks, followed by further bottle aging. The magnum format amplifies the wine’s aging potential, ensuring a slower evolution and even greater complexity over time.

The 2019 opens with perfumed aromas of red cherry, rose petal, cedar, and sweet spice, deepening to notes of tobacco, orange peel, and forest earth. On the palate, it is textural and refined—vibrant acidity and fine tannins frame layers of pure, luminous fruit. It’s both structured and graceful, a hallmark Il Poggione vintage destined for greatness.
