Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars “FAY” Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
A historic vineyard bottling from the heart of the Stags Leap District, FAY Cabernet Sauvignon honors the site that helped establish Napa Valley’s global reputation. First planted in 1961 and famously recognized during the 1976 Judgment of Paris era, the FAY vineyard is known for producing Cabernets of aromatic lift, supple texture, and refined elegance. The 2014 vintage reflects a warm, even growing season that delivered exceptional ripeness and balance.
The nose is expressive and inviting, revealing aromas of black cherry, cassis, and ripe plum layered with violet, sweet tobacco, and hints of cedar and baking spice. Subtle notes of graphite and cocoa add depth. On the palate, the wine is medium- to full-bodied, with silky, finely integrated tannins and vibrant acidity. Concentrated dark fruit flavors are complemented by savory undertones and polished oak, leading to a long, harmonious finish.
More supple and aromatic than the estate’s S.L.V. bottling, the 2014 FAY balances richness and finesse, offering both immediate appeal and the structure to age gracefully.
